Searching Tips
If you are not familiar with the Ragnarok Online Monsters
Database, take some times to read the following tips:
- First, you must know your own character. Take notes your character
class, level, stats, def, weapons, gears, and other information. Use
the information to find the perfect monster for you to level. So there
won't be no more dead novices in Glast Heim.
- Make use of your arsenals and gears. For example, if you have a
Cranial Guard, try to input demi-human in the race
field. If you have an Ice elemental weapon, input
fire in the element field. If you use daggers, avoid
Savages. They are big in size and big size is definitely not
good for daggers. Find small size monsters instead. Also if you have
carded weapons, input the search fields accordingly. That way you can
maximize your damage and improve your exp gains significantly.
- Know your type. Specific class and specific build needs specific
monsters to level efficiently. Acolytes and mages
level on different monsters. Non-critical build should search for
low-def monsters. Magicians should search for low-mdef
monsters, etc. Get some examples on this on the next section.
Class-Specific Examples
Still confused huh? Try the following examples.
- Agility Based
This class includes agile
Swordsman/Knight/Crusader/Defender/Lord Knight/Paladin,
agile Thief/Assassin/Rogue/Assassin Cross/Stalker, agile
Archer/Hunter/Bard/Dancer/Sniper/Minstrel/Gypsy, agile
Merchant/Blacksmith/Alchemist/Whitesmith/Biochemist/Creator,
and agile Acolyte/Priest/Monk/High Priest/Champion.
They depend on their high flee to dodge monster's attacks. Agile
characters have better chance by avoiding mobbed places as they
tend to have low hit points.
Necessary search filters:
- Max Flee: input your flee (base level +
agility) here so you can dodge your enemy at the rate of 95%.
You can input higher value to give you wider range of monsters,
but constantly getting hit by the bad guy is definitely not
good.
- Max Def: unless you have a reasonable critical
rate, you should limit the monsters' maximum defense level
so you won't deal pathetic damage.
- Mobber: if you can only fight well with one
monster at a time, try to input 'no' in this field so you won't
be mobbed to death.
- Aggressive: refer to the above.
- Has minions: refer to the above.
- Vitality Based
This class includes vit Swordsman/Knight/Crusader/Defender/Lord
Knight/Paladin, vit Thief/Assassin/Rogue/Stalker/Assassin
Cross, and vit
Merchant/Blacksmith/Alchemist/Whitesmith/Biochemist/Creator.
They depend on their high vitality and defense to reduce damage
from monster's attacks, and they usually like to use mob-control
skills.
Necessary search filters:
- Race: vit characters should use racial guards
to reduce damage. Specify the race here if you have a specific
racial guard.
- Max Atk: since you won't dodge any attack,
you better limit the monster's max atk according to your
defense and vitality points.
- Max Aspd: same as the above, if the monsters
hit fast, you won't last long, better limit their max aspd to
medium or lower.
- Max Def: unless you have a reasonable critical
rate, you should limit the monsters' maximum defense level
so you won't deal pathetic damage.
- Mobber: if you would rather collect some mobs
and devastate them in a single move, try to input 'yes' in this
field so you can collect monsters easier.
- Aggressive: refer to the above.
- Has minions: refer to the above.
- Trappers
Trappers like to trap the monster and make them immobile so they can
attack the monster safely from distance. This class includes
Hunter/Sniper — with the trapping skills, e.g.
Ankle Snare — and
Mage/Wizzard/Sage/High Wizard/Professor/Scholar —
with the following skills: Frost Diver,
Storm Gust, Fire Wall, Ice Wall, or
Stone Curse. You also should find quiet place so you can
trap peacefully.
Necessary search filters:
- Max Speed: if you are not skillful enough with
the trapping skill, you better limit your monster's speed to
medium or lower to buy you more time to set your trap.
- Mobber: more monsters may make it more
difficult for you to set the trap, if you do find some
difficulties with mobs, try to set this option to 'no'.
- Aggressive: refer to the above.
- Has minions: refer to the above.
- Magic Users
Most magic users (Mage/Wizard/Sages/High
Wizard/Professor/Scholar, Monk/Champion, and
Int/Dex Rogue/Stalker) have low vit/def/hp, thus makes
them vulnerable to attacks. But they also have deadly skills that
can kill most enemies in one shot such as Jupitel Thunder,
Water Ball, or Ashura Strike. They will want
to kill before being killed.
Necessary search filters:
- Max MDef: magic doesn't do much against
monsters having high magical defense level.
- Mobile: if you set this to 'no', you will find
stationary monsters. You can pummel them with your ranged
spells and they won't even be able to retaliate if their
attacks have shorter range.
- Cast sensor: monsters with cast sensing
ability can detect if someone is casting spells on them and
will try to attack and cancel the spells. If your casting speed
is slow, you better turn this option to 'no'.
- Aggressive: if you have nobody supporting you,
you better avoid the aggressives. Turn this option to 'no'.
- Holy Based
This class include the supportive Acolyte/Priest/High
Priest — with Heal and Holy Light as
their only weapon —, Turn Undead or Magnus
Exorcismus Priest/High Priest, and Grand Cross
Crusader/Defender/Paladin. They skills are holy-based, thus
they can only effectively level on undeads or demons. Also if you
have mob-control skills such as Magnus Exorcismus or
Grand Cross, you better look for places with high undead
spawns.
Necessary search filters:
- Element: set this to undead if you
only have access to Heal, Turn Undead, or
Magnus Exorcismus.
- Max MDef: magic doesn't do much against
monsters having high magical defense level.
